I like Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone because of the engaging story plot and the film techniques used in the movie. Camera shots, Camera angles, music, sound effects, costume, and make-up made the film interesting. The music that was suspenseful, mysterious, and sorrowful engaged me into the film by making me feel suspense, sad, excited, and curious. The angles of the camera made me see certain views which gave me a clear image of what I needed to see to stay engaged in the movie. The Lighting was at time eerie, dim, or gloomy which fit in with the setting to made a image of grandeur or an image that fit in with the setting. For instance, the gloomy lighting lit up by fire in the school added to an image of grandeur which made me feel awed. The settings and props used opened the doors to a fantasy world which I really enjoyed about the movie. I liked the sound effect used when Hermione fixed Harry's glasses because it made the movie seem more realistic.
In the beginning of the movie, I feel injustice, sadness and pity for Harry who is shunned by his relatives, the Dursleys. and not treated nicely as shown when he spends his time under the stairs. He is not cared for as shown by him wearing dudley's hand-me -downs and known when watchers find out that he is forced to go to his neighbor’s house when the rest of the family is doing something fun. I feel suspense for Harry to get his letter and am happy when he finally gets it. When I find out he is to go to a wizarding school, I am more happy because he will be free from the Dursleys and be able to go to a cool place. I am glad that he makes friends and does heroic acts. I am happy when he gets his things for hogwarts, makes it through the wall, when he and his friends get points for the Gryffindors when they get knock down a giant in the girls bathroom, when harry is able to join the quidditch team, and when harry makes it to the sorcerer stone to defeat Lord Voldemort. I feel tense throughout their journey to the sorcerer stone as they get past the dog, get gulfed up by devil's snare, have to win the chess game, and have to get through room of flying keys finding the right key. In the end of the movie I am surprised when Lord Voldemort appears so that he can get the sorcerer's stone and am scared for Harry after he defeats Lord Voldemort because I am scared he'll burn in the fire.
